Hawaiian-born singer-songwriter, Eli Smart, just released his single entitled “Silence”! The track, which is the rising musician’s first release since his sophomore EP, Aloha Soul, finds Eli at his most vulnerable, as it blends his signature surf-rock elements with a more laid back and melancholic overtone. Created with fellow rising star, Matt Maltese and Ant Whitting (Soak, Mtilda Mann, L Devine), along with longtime collaborator, Gianluca Buccellati (Arlo Parks, Lana Del Rey, Biig Piig), “Silence” marks the next chapter for Eli Smart and the track is available now at all digital retail providers.

Eli says of the track, “I specifically remember finishing up most of what we wanted to do with this tune and then going for a stormy evening dip in the ocean. I’ll forever associate this song with that evening and deep stormy blue atmosphere that was all around, so cozy and so evocative.”

In addition to the single, Eli announces his summer North American tour dates in support of Declan McKenna. Kicking off on July 11th in Toronto, the tour will be making stops in several major cities including Brooklyn, New York City, Cleveland, and Nashville. Eli has just wrapped

up his two-night residency at The Social in London! Tickets for the tour with Declan McKenna are on-sale now.

About Eli Smart

Hailing from the Hawaiian island of Kauai, Eli Smart was raised by a family of musicians, as his grandmother belonged to the pioneering all-female rock band Ace of Cups that played shows with Jimi Hendrix, and his grandfather a jazz musician who has opened for Duke Ellington. A recent graduate from the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, Eli’s music is a perfect blend of the sunshine and soul of Hawaii and the smoke and grit of the British Isles, as he continues to split his time between Hawaii and London. Eli rose to prominence in early 2021 with the release of his debut EP, Boonie Town, which consists of four glorious tracks, “Come Down,” “No Destination,” “Highschool Steady,” and “Cruella Deville,” showcasing Eli’s sun-dappled vision and won him fans like Clara Amfo, Elton John, Greg James, Adele Roberts, Gemma Bradley, and more.

In late 2022, Eli worked with Mercury Prize winning producer Gianluca Buccellati (Arlo Parks, Lana Del Rey, Biig Piig) to release his sophomore EP, Aloha Soul, which he recorded in his bedroom in his parents’ home. Together, they created a project that lends Eli’s music a quality

that is altogether timeless, beholden to no single era, and yet evocative of all of them. With rhythmic guitar and sugar-coated melodies, largely indebted to Eli’s adoration of The Beatles, the music is deeply rooted in the sounds of Hawaii, packed with falsetto harmonies, lap steel guitars, slide guitars, and ukulele. Eli brings his “aloha soul” energy and charisma to the stage with his lifelong family and friends (his dad sometimes playing alongside Eli on the Hawaiian lap steel or slide guitar and his grandmother set to play bass on his upcoming tour), evoking a sense of community as he brings the entire audience into his musically sun-kissed world. Having been included in the 2023 edition of the prestigious NME 100 list and Dork Magazine’s 2023 Hype List, and more new music on the horizon, Eli Smart promises a bright future and is undoubtedly an artist to watch.
