Faerie releases "champagne tears"

Having received attention for previous releases from publications like EARMILK, The Wild Honey Pie’s Buzzing Daily, and The Luna Collective, indie-pop artist Faerie continues her rise with “champagne tears,” her first single of 2023 out January 27, 2023. The song comes ahead of her anticipated EP dizzy spells, out February 2023. “champagne tears” tells a story of two ex-lovers tangled up in toxicity and drama, missing the familiarity that defined their past relationship and its addictive, cyclical nature. The passion and drama is wrapped up and almost hidden in what Faerie calls a “leisurely, folk-inspired sound.”

Her description creates a fitting musical metaphor for a relationship of that nature — an internal, private chaos not always picked up externally. The song sways and bounces, easy on the ears, though full of melancholy lyrics in between horn solos and Faerie’s cooing upper register.

The single came out of Faerie’s long talks with her producer, Matty Bedrosian (Los Angeles, CA)

and co-writer Christian Young (San Antonio, TX) about the adrenaline addiction drama gives a person — and the unhealthy thoughts and actions that result from the “high.” The full story in “champagne tears” solidified when Faerie realized that what’s inside the adrenaline would never truly

be satisfying for her.

“I’d be sitting in the calm and quiet but then I’d suddenly miss the noise,” Faerie said about the process behind writing her latest track. “I’d miss the gossip, the fights, the adrenaline, the feeling of almost falling off the cliff but not actually doing it.”

Faerie, the dreamy, distinctive musical spirit of Christine Joyce Lam, writes music that invites the listener to escape the world and join the celestial one she’s currently building. Lam started her world-building as Faerie in 2021 when she released her debut EP “2am,” which has over 18,000 streams to date. She has collaborated with over 30 creatives worldwide during her career thus far and has 2023 goals to continue bringing emerging talents to her team and to play more live shows.

With each piece of music she releases, she continues enchanting her listeners, inviting them into the wonderland of her creation and allowing them to understand her connection to music.
