2024 has already been a huge year for UK-based, up-and-coming band daydreamers. With the mega success of their debut single “Call Me Up”, daydreamers sold out their first ever headline show, along with playing BBC Music Introducing, and opening for Pale Waves. The band has recently released their latest hit “Beach House” which is the perfect addition to everyone’s summer playlist.

daydreamers is such a great band name, how did you all decide on that being the name of the band?

Thanks! I think the name daydreamers fits with the music - it’s hopeful and optimistic, but also self-reflective and a little introverted.

I’m curious how you all met, did you know each other through the London music scene, or was it a Craigslist situation?

Basically through mutual friends! I (Riley) had a bunch of songs that I’d written and produced, knew the guys were incredible and then as soon as we got into the room it really clicked.

Your hit song “Call Me Up”, is such a massive success, what was the release experience like?

It’s such a nice feeling when people connect with something that you create. It’s definitely not something we take for granted. We’re really grateful that people resonate with what we’re doing.

I’m sure everyone is wondering what the story is behind “Call Me Up” that inspired you to make it?

I’d been living with our manager for a few months after a break up (he basically adopted me), and in that time had been dating, meeting new people etc. I think it just came from this rush of excitement of getting hooked on someone new. The song itself was really quick to write - I did most of the writing and production in about 2 days. It was a lot of fun to make.

I saw a YouTube video of you performing your latest song called “Beach House” which I love, what made you decide to release that as the next single?

Since playing our first show in October ‘Beach House’ really resonated with our fans - it’d be the one that people would come up to us after to talk about. So in my head it had to be next, to say thank you to all of the people that have supported us from the very beginning.

If you don’t mind me asking, what beach does “Beach House” take place at?

The first beach house I’d ever been to was in Kings Lynn, and that was to shoot the music video! For me the beach house in the song is this fictional place you keep on returning to - like going back to a memory of when you first fall in love with someone, except you get caught up in that moment and see it all through rose-tinted glasses. But you know it can’t last forever.

Which artists and bands are you inspired by?

A whole bunch! Recently, Aztec Camera, U2, The Smiths.

Recently you had a sold-out show at Camden Assembly, how amazing was that?

Absolutely insane... All of the songs exist to be played live, and that’s where we all love to be. The response from the crowd was amazing.

Do you have plans on touring the UK/EU, maybe even coming stateside for a show?

We’d absolutely love to and I hope we’re going to be able to before the end of the year… we’ve just finished up a show supporting Pale Waves and playing Dot to Dot festival in the UK, it was great fun.

What can the fans be expecting from daydreamers this year?

Lots and lots of new releases and live shows. It’s a big year!

Tell me, what’s one surprising fun fact about each member that people might not know?

Riley: I grew up on a zoo for birds.

Aurora: When I was 9 I tried to write a novel about a magical alternate universe.

Jay: I used to work in a sweet shop.

Marco: My biggest fear is not having pasta every day.

My final question is, do you have a recommendation? It can be anything, an activity, place, TV series, absolutely anything.

Curveball - might come out of left field but I stumbled on this playthrough of a game called “A Beginner’s Guide” on YouTube last night and it completely blew my mind. It’s such an interesting narrative and completely shatters the boundaries between fiction and non-fiction. Check it out, I found it really inspiring.

Check out “Beach House” and “Call Me Up” out now on your favorite music streaming platform, and be on the lookout for what’s to come next from daydreamers.
